PFC Corofil C144 Cavity Firestops provide firestopping for vertical and horizontal construction joints and at the interface between compartment walls and soffits. Tested to BS476 Part 20, PFC Corofil C144 Firestops provide up to 6 hours’ fire protection.

Description
- C144 Firestop Strip is used for firestopping joints which are reasonably uniform in size and may be subject to movement. C144 Firestop Strip is manufactured from a high density, low phenolic binder, rock fibre. C144 Firestop Strip is supplied in one metre lengths to suit the size of the joint to be filled. The width of the strip is dependent on the fire rating required. (See Fire Rating) C144 Firestop Strip thickness is slightly oversized compared to the joint size so that the Firestop Strip is fitted or installed under slight compression.
- C144 Firestop Blocks are used to firestop profiles in roofing, cladding and floor decking. C144 Firestop Blocks are manufactured to fit the specific profile used and to suit the width of the wall, beam or period of fire protection required. (See Fire Rating)

Building Regulations 2000 - Approved Document B - B2/3/4 – Internal fire spread (structure), paragraphs 0.10 – 0.11, state that the spread of fire inside a building can be restricted, by provisions for elements of structure to have a specified minimum period of fire resistance. Fire resistance is defined in terms of both integrity and insulation requirements when applied to fire separating elements.
Acoustic Rating
PFC Corofil C144 Firestop Strip and Firestop Blocks have been acoustically assessed in a variety of applications – please consult sales office detailing the type of construction and required acoustic performance.
Two number C144 Firestop Strips 30mm thick by 60mm wide compressed into a 25mm joint in 140mm thick (2000 kg) block wall is capable of providing a Weighted Sound Reduction Index (Rw) of 46db, if coated both sides with Fastight Paint.
Smoke Seal
PFC Corofil C144 Firestop Strip and Blocks provide a smoke seal if external faces are coated with Fastight Paint.
Fibre Migration
Fibre migration is prevented by either:
- Shrink wrapping
- Painting the exposed faces of the product with Fastight Paint.
Specification C144
Install PFC Corofil C144 Firestop Strip to provide 1,2,3,4 or 6 hour fire rated joints.
Install PFC Corofil C144 Firestop Blocks to provide 1,2,3,4 or 6 hour fire rating to seal all roof/wall and floor deck profiles. Installation to be fully in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
